Project overview

Super Arc Consultant (SAC) carried out a geotechnical and hydrological investigation for a new terminal development in Fujairah. The site sits in mountainous terrain exposed to flash floods and heavy rain.

Scope of work

Investigation of subsurface conditions.

Assessment of groundwater behaviour.

Assessment of flood and heavy rainfall risk to the development areas.

Value delivered

The study showed where flood water and groundwater could affect the new areas, so protection could be built into the design.

Engineering context

Terminals in mountainous areas can face both sudden surface floods and groundwater effects. Reading the geotechnical and hydrological conditions together gives a fuller picture of the site’s risks.
