Bahij Investment commissioned Super Arc Consultant (SAC) for the geotechnical engineering design of the foundations of a beach club in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, part of a group of tourist resort projects.
Scope of work
Geotechnical analysis of the site.
Numerical 3D modelling and analysis.
An integrated foundation design for the building.
Value delivered
The foundation design was checked with 3D modelling of the ground and structure together, rather than relying on simplified hand methods alone.
Engineering context
Structures close to the shoreline need to take account of groundwater and coastal soils. Modelling shows how the building and ground deform together, which is especially useful for irregular layouts and uneven loads.
