Project overview
A catchment in Abu Dhabi experienced flooding and ponding during storms, with temporary pumps managing excess water. Super Arc Consultant (SAC) provided the design and approvals to enhance an outfall for Hydropower Energy & General Construction.
Scope of work
Validation of the concept design and hydraulic calculations and modelling.
New manholes and pipelines to an alternative outfall, with design of a new pumping station.
Validation of the existing network and new pipelines to soakaway geocell systems at six locations.
IDAS, design NOC and TPD route approvals.
BIM modelling and utility clash detection.
Value delivered
The design set out a permanent pumping and drainage solution in place of temporary pumps.
Engineering context
Urban flooding can come from network capacity, outfall performance or both, so the wider catchment needs reviewing. Hydraulic modelling helps to test each solution before it is committed to construction.
