Project overview

Super Arc Engineering Construction (SAEC) installed the bored pile foundations for a rail infrastructure project in Abu Dhabi.

Scope of work

Mobilisation of piling rigs.

Drilling and construction of 40 reinforced concrete bored piles, 900 mm in diameter and 22 m deep.

Static load testing.

Pile integrity testing.

Cross-hole sonic logging.

Caliper testing of the bores.

Value delivered

Each of the 40 piles was tested to railway infrastructure requirements, combining load, integrity, sonic and caliper checks.

Engineering context

Rail structures are sensitive to settlement because the track must hold its alignment. Each test answers a different question: the load test measures response, the integrity and sonic tests examine the concrete, and caliper testing checks the bore before concreting.
