Project overview

Super Arc Consultant (SAC) carried out, for ADRES, a structural assessment and design review for a resort facility in Al Ain planned for refurbishment.

Scope of work

Visual inspection and as-built structural drawings.

Non-destructive testing: rebound hammer, ultrasonic pulse velocity and cover meter survey.

Load capacity evaluation with analytical and finite element models.

Review of the proposed design modifications.

A technical report with test results and refurbishment recommendations.

Value delivered

The client could check the proposed refurbishment against the tested condition and calculated capacity of the existing structure.

Engineering context

Refurbishment can change the loads on a building whose original records may be incomplete. As-built drawings and testing replace those assumptions with measured information before the new design is finalised.
