Super Arc Engineering Construction (SAEC) carried out ground improvement using rigid inclusions at Masdar Park, Abu Dhabi, for Tornado Group.
Scope of work
Installation of rigid inclusion columns beneath the concrete footings, 8 m to 10 m deep or down to the refusal layer.
A zone load test.
Value delivered
The zone load test checked the performance of the improved ground under the footings on site.
Engineering context
Rigid inclusions stiffen weak ground beneath footings and reduce settlement without forming a conventional piled foundation. A zone load test measures how the footing and improved ground respond together.
